Getting Started with Your Freedom Account
Overview
Your BitcoinIRA Retirement account now includes a Freedom Account — a taxable investment option with no contribution limits, no retirement-age withdrawal restrictions, and no required minimum distributions. This companion account is automatically created alongside your IRA.
With your Freedom Account, you can:
Transfer crypto from other platforms (Coinbase, Kraken, Robinhood, and more)
Borrow against your crypto with loans up to $250k
Earn rewards through staking and other yield features
Manage all your investments in one place
Invest with no minimum deposits
🗒️ Note: Your Freedom Account is created automatically — no action is required to open it. If your account is more than one year old, you may need to complete a quick identity verification before you can start transacting.
Before You Begin
A New BitcoinIRA account — your Freedom Account is automatically created for both new and existing customers.
Identity verification (Veriff) — if your account is more than one year old, you will be prompted to complete a quick identity verification before accessing the account. This is a one-time step.
Withdrawal hold for new customers: If you do not yet have a funded retirement account, withdrawals from your Freedom Account will be locked for 60 days or until you make your first retirement account deposit — whichever comes first.

Tips & Best Practices
Understand the tax implications
Your Freedom Account is a taxable account. Unlike your IRA, gains and income generated in this account may be subject to federal and state income tax, as well as capital gains tax. We recommend consulting a tax professional for guidance specific to your situation.
Fund your retirement account first
To avoid a 60-day withdrawal hold on your Freedom Account, make sure to deposit into your retirement account first. Once your retirement account is funded, the withdrawal restriction is lifted immediately.
Re-opening the informational popup
If you dismissed the welcome popup and want to review the account features again, simply expand your Freedom Account on the dashboard.
Troubleshooting
I don't see a Freedom Account on my dashboard.
All existing and new BitcoinIRA customers receive a Freedom Account automatically. If you don't see it, try refreshing your browser or restarting the mobile app. If the issue persists, contact our support team.
I'm having trouble completing identity verification.
Make sure you're in a well-lit area and your government-issued ID is not expired. Veriff works best on a mobile device with a working camera. If you encounter repeated errors, contact support and reference the Veriff session ID shown on the error screen.
My withdrawals are locked.
If your retirement account is not yet funded, withdrawals from the Freedom Account are locked for 60 days as a security measure. You can lift this restriction sooner by making a deposit into your retirement account. The withdrawal hold warning is shown directly in the account panel.
